There was a time in the not too distant past that nearly every home had a land line telephone. This was considered a necessity, and was put in a priority list along with electricity and water. The telephone put people in touch with each other, even when they were not able to be there in person. Yes, the telephone was, and still is, a vital part of the human existence.
Once the telephone companies realized just how popular and necessary the telephone was to people, they started tacking on extra charges. These continued to escalate, and more changes came into being. Soon, you were made to pay to call someone 10 minutes down the road from you along with other picky little things that were added to your, now bursting, phone bill.
Enter the cell phone. This little invention, like everything else new, was only for rich people in the beginning. But as most new things do, the price started to come down. Now, nearly everyone has a cell phone whether they have a place to live or not. These cell phones also come with such impressive money saving deals that they are much more affordable than land lines.
If you are one of those people who must endure a huge phone bill each month, you might want to consider getting rid of the land line and investing in a cell phone. A lot of people have chosen to do this more and more frequently in recent years. You can call anywhere in the world and still not pay as much as long distance on a land line. Many cell phone plans come with deals that get you totally free long distance.
One of the things that kept some people from using only a cell phone was the fact that it didn’t have a 911 feature. That is also a thing of the past as most cell phones now come with a way to dial this emergency number. They also prove to cost much less while having just as many features as a land line, including voice mail, and caller ID.
If you have an outrageous phone bill for your land line, yet there are reasons you still NEED a land line phone, you may think about getting a cell phone and cutting your land line features down to just the basics. You probably won’t pay more than $30 a month in most places, and you will have your much cheaper cell phone to use for everything else. Do a little research and you just might be amazed.
