Water is the best fluid to put in the human body. If you don’t count the water bill you pay each month, you could also say that it’s a free beverage. However, there are many places that the water is not quite as pure as it needs to be for drinking. That is not to say that there is something WRONG with the water, only that it may have some impurities in it that you don’t really need or want in your body.

You can ensure yourself of having only the purest of water in two ways. There is bottled water which can be purchased in either small plastic bottles, gallon jugs, or even delivered to your home on a weekly basis. While this water is guaranteed to be of the purest you can get, it also ends up being rather costly. Of course, it’s possible to budget this, but if you’re already spending money for a monthly water bill, this extra cost can add up.

Another way that many people have begun to purify their drinking water at home is through the use of home water filters. These are also available in different types. You can get one to install on your kitchen sink for around $25, and this kit usually includes 2 new filters. Each filter tends to last for approximately 3 months, at which time you will need to buy another filter to replace the old one. These filters are relatively inexpensive, costing $40 for a box of 3 filters. These 3 filters will last you approximately 9 months. That’s a lot cheaper than paying $40 a month for buying bottled water or a delivery service.

If you are only interested in filtering your water just for drinking, you can even go a cheaper route. There are pitchers that hold the filters in their lids. You simply fill the pitcher with water from your faucet, and pour it from the pitcher into your glass. The water is purified as it runs through the filter. By the time it reaches your glass, it is sparkling clean and healthy.

Another great thing about using these home water purifiers is that you don’t have the waste of plastic bottles. While many people practice recycling these bottles, there are many more who do not, thus cluttering our landfills with all of this plastic. If you have been using bottled water in the past, you can still make use of these by simply pouring your newly purified water from your faucet into your bottle.

There are many reasons that people decide not to stay married and get divorced. Many of these reasons are valid. In cases of abusive spouses, cheating spouses, and so many more reasons, divorce may be the only answer. However, on the other hand, if there are some issues in your marriage that are not horrible, and can possibly be resolved, it is financially smart to try to stay married.

When it comes to paying taxes, for example, two people can possibly live cheaper than one. There are allowances or deductions available for married couples that single people are not eligible to receive. You may find that your refunds may be a little more than if you were single. However, this isn’t the only reason that staying married makes sense financially.

As far too many people can attest to, divorce is expensive. If there are children involved, as well as a lot of joint property, it gets even more expensive. Unless a divorcing couple can manage an amicable parting of the ways, one or both partners will come close to financial ruin. Divorce seems to bring out the worst in people and this can be fought out in the courts. The only ones profiting from couples who split up are their attorneys. Child support, spousal support, the selling of property and many more things come into play that are going to deplete the bank account.

When a divorce takes place, you now have a single mother and a single father. Many times, the parents who have been ordered to pay support slack on this. The income is no longer two working together. It is a struggle of suddenly trying to make it on one person’s paycheck. With today’s economy, this can be next to impossible for people trying to make it on minimum wage jobs.

A married couple work together to make enough money to pay the rent or mortgage, electricity, water, gas and phone bills. This can be difficult with both of them trying. For a suddenly single person, it can be very hard. A divorce is very emotionally draining for a couple, and any children that may be involved. It will also be just as draining financially.

Therefore, if you have any chance of making your marriage work, it is always best to exhaust all efforts to keep it together. Otherwise, you could find yourself struggling from day to day and worrying about where rent money or food money will come from. It’s definitely cheaper to try to stay married than to leave.

With the Christmas season just ahead, it’s time to start thinking about what sort of tree you will want to have for your home this year. Many people look forward to going to pick out their special tree during this time of year, some even as a family. This is done by visiting a Christmas Tree Farm, or a tree lot, or even chopping down your own tree. Still others visit the department stores and choose an artificial tree that will last for a long time.

While a real tree looks amazing at Christmas, there are some things to be considered. Each tree that is used for decorating is usually quite expensive for the short amount of time that you will be able to use it. Unless the tree is well cared for, you will have all sorts of needles littering the floor beneath your tree, and these cannot be vacuumed up. They can damage your vacuum cleaner. The amount of money that you spend on this live tree each year could buy a few more presents.

When you opt to purchase an artificial tree, you will find all sizes and types. The standard size tree is about 6 feet tall. These come with or without lights. If you are in a situation of getting your first tree for a new home, you may want to take into consideration that a pre-lighted tree is going to save you some money in buying extra lights to put on that tree. In addition, these artificial trees can be put up and decorated as far ahead of Christmas as you would like with no worry about needles falling off. It is also a tree that can be carefully packed away for use as long as 10 years. You won’t have to worry about fighting the crowds at the tree lots every year to find your perfect tree, as yours will already be packed away in the closet ready to be brought out at the right time.

Whether you choose a real tree or an artificial tree is a totally personal choice. However, if you are on a tight budget, an artificial tree is going to save you a lot of money, not only this year, but in many years to come. In addition, when you choose an artificial tree, you are saving many live trees from being chopped down for no other reason than to decorate your home for a couple of weeks. It’s something to think about, at least.

There was a time in the not too distant past that nearly every home had a land line telephone. This was considered a necessity, and was put in a priority list along with electricity and water. The telephone put people in touch with each other, even when they were not able to be there in person. Yes, the telephone was, and still is, a vital part of the human existence.

Once the telephone companies realized just how popular and necessary the telephone was to people, they started tacking on extra charges. These continued to escalate, and more changes came into being. Soon, you were made to pay to call someone 10 minutes down the road from you along with other picky little things that were added to your, now bursting, phone bill.

Enter the cell phone. This little invention, like everything else new, was only for rich people in the beginning. But as most new things do, the price started to come down. Now, nearly everyone has a cell phone whether they have a place to live or not. These cell phones also come with such impressive money saving deals that they are much more affordable than land lines.

If you are one of those people who must endure a huge phone bill each month, you might want to consider getting rid of the land line and investing in a cell phone. A lot of people have chosen to do this more and more frequently in recent years. You can call anywhere in the world and still not pay as much as long distance on a land line. Many cell phone plans come with deals that get you totally free long distance.

One of the things that kept some people from using only a cell phone was the fact that it didn’t have a 911 feature. That is also a thing of the past as most cell phones now come with a way to dial this emergency number. They also prove to cost much less while having just as many features as a land line, including voice mail, and caller ID.

If you have an outrageous phone bill for your land line, yet there are reasons you still NEED a land line phone, you may think about getting a cell phone and cutting your land line features down to just the basics. You probably won’t pay more than $30 a month in most places, and you will have your much cheaper cell phone to use for everything else. Do a little research and you just might be amazed.

So many people today are jumping on the recycling bandwagon to try to help save the environment. It turns out that “going green” not only helps preserve our world, but it helps saves money, too. By recycling things and making a lot of your own essentials is not only environment friendly, but less expensive.

One way that you can recycle and have some of the most talked about drinking glasses in town is through the use of jars. That’s right. It seems that jars come in all shapes and sizes, and are just perfect for cheap, yet interesting, drinking glasses. You have all seen the cool shapes of jars that hold jellies. The smaller ones make great juice glasses. For larger drinks, mayonnaise jars can be washed out really well and work perfectly. Mason jars also make attractive glasses especially when they are decorated with permanent markers. Kids love to have their very own glasses with their names on them.

Who says you have to throw out old clothes just because they are worn out? These can become the perfect cleaning cloths. They can be used over and over again by being washed in between uses. They are much sturdier than paper towels and last a lot longer. If you have children, you may never have to buy another paper towel roll again.

If you look around on the internet, you will find a multitude of websites offering recipes for making your own cleaning agents as well as beauty products. These are so simple to make and use ingredients that you usually already have on hand. Products you make are more effective, as well as healthier for you. In addition, with the prices of the major brands on the market, you will save enough money to buy a great gift for someone special.

There are so many ways that you can become a part of the green team that all you have to do is look around your home to find them. Simply start thinking of the ways you can reuse some of those pretty energy drink bottles. You may have suddenly found a new flower vase! It’s been proved over and over again that recycling will not only protect the environment, but may help you pay a bill or two each month. It’s really not as hard as you might think. In fact, most people find it a lot of fun to go green and get back to basics.

This is, perhaps, one chore that may be the easiest thing on your list to do, or the one that requires the most effort. Either way, this is a more cost efficient procedure for your consideration. The smart machines you are seeing on the market are more like computers than dryers. Those who can afford them are fortunate to do so. Let’s hope they are making the most of that investment. For the rest of you, your little machines are still doing a fantastic job. However, why not take a look at how to help them keep up the good work?

First, be sure you are taking the time to sort your loads properly. Don’t throw in your lighter materials with your heavy terry cloth towels. The actual drying is compromised, and you will find, not as effective as just doing a load of towels. Consider taking the lighter items and hanging in a sunny place, if not outside! On the other hand, don’t over dry your clothes. If you are a lucky one and have a moisture sensor, then be grateful and use it. Wasted time and effort is the most expensive loss to everyone.

To improve your air circulation, clean the lint screen after every use. If you think that’s not possible, then simply running the screen under wash water gives it a good scrub. Let it air dry. It will be ready to go when you are. The added bonus here is there is no build up of lint, thus eliminating a fire hazard. Use the cool down cycle and let the residual heat in the drum finish drying your clothes. Be sure in venting your dryer that rigid material is used. A plastic vent can collapse, creating a fire hazard that you are not aware of until you have a fire.

There are many good reasons to line dry. It costs nothing! Doing so on a breezy day will eliminate any stiffness in the clothes. Also, you can line dry until the clothes are just barely holding moisture, and then finish up in your dryer. No one will ever know the difference. Did you know the sun kills bed and dust mites? Free bug control! The sun also whitens and deodorizes. How do you dry in the winter time? That one’s easy. Your shower curtain rod is a very convenient indoor clothes line. In addition, racks can be purchased inexpensively and used immediately.

Gone are the days of beating your clothes clean or spraining a finger using an old fashioned wringing machine. Today’s way of doing your laundry is much more efficient time wise, but cost wise, it’s more expensive than ever.

Today, with more and more of a need to go green, making an effort in your laundry room is an easy place to begin. Using cold water to wash and rinse in, you will find yourself using less water and less energy. Therefore, reducing your impact on the environment just that quickly! How cool is that? Ninety percent of the energy used to wash your clothes is in heating the water. Change the water setting to really custom fit the size of the load you are doing. Being more conscious of your techniques, and then adjusting your routine to adapt your new way of doing the laundry, will soon have you saving money and actually seeing the quality in your clothes extended.

Washing in cold water is fine for all fabrics. Using a detergent especially made for cold water is recommended by some experts. Others do not feel it’s necessary. It is advised, if you have hard water, to use liquid detergent as it does not have to dissolve. Adjust your fabric setting to the most appropriate setting. The only time hot water is really needed is when the clothing is very greasy or heavily soiled. Use of vinegar in the final rinse is highly recommended as a cheap alternative to fabric softener. It’s healthy, contains no additives or perfumes, and goes into the septic cleanly, taking no chemicals with it. Bedding and under clothes may be considered for hot water usage. For example, if your family has the flu, then by all means wash in hot water and kill any viruses and or bacteria lurking in these items. The same is true with underclothing. It’s advised to wash these in hot water to destroy any bacteria from urine or fecal matter left behind in the material.

Be aware if you are still using straight bleach in your older washing machine that you may, indeed, be rusting it from the inside out. Bleach added by the little cup in top of the machine pours directly into the wash at rinse. As it sits there waiting, it’s also eating. Eventually, you will remove the cup and find rust all around the area it sets.

Trying these handy tips will not only save you on your energy bills, but will save wear and tear on clothing, bedding and your washing machine. It’s not really hard to do these either. It just takes a little adjusting to remember to do things differently.

Food shopping is one of the most important things that families do and it is also one of the things that can put a huge dent in your monthly budget. There is no reason that you have to go broke in order to eat, however. This also does not mean you must exist on beans and rice. Through trial and error, many people have come up with some money saving tips on how to stretch your food budget each week.

The best way to make sure that you will have decent meals through the week is by planning a menu. This not only saves money by not just picking up items at random, but it will save time on trying to decide each day what the family meals will consist of. They will be all planned and you will only have to do the preparation.

The first thing everyone needs to do before even getting in the car to head to the grocery store is to make a list. Put on this list all the things you will need for each meal you will have during the week, as well as anything else such as milk, drinks, bread, cereal, and other things that are essential add ons. Follow your list religiously once you are inside the store. Don’t let yourself be tempted by any of those displays which are set up to grab you either on the way in or the way out. These impulse buys will make more of a difference than you may think at the time.

Another good way to save money shopping is to go when you are in a hurry. Maybe you are expecting company, or a phone call, or your favorite television show is going to be coming on. When you are on a time table, you will not spend time browsing. You will take your list and grab all the things on it without random purchases. You will be amazed at the amount of money you save just by doing this.

Whenever possible, buy generic products. These generally taste the same as the name brands and cost a lot less. You can always spice up cheap cans of green beans, corn and tomatoes. Most of the time, you are simply paying for the name on a product. When you go with the generic brands, you are still getting a quality product without the extra cost.

These are all common sense tips and you probably have thought about doing them on your own. It’s just a matter of actually putting them into practice in order to see how much money can actually be saved. You will quickly see just how fast these savings add up.
